Life Data® Forage Balancer is a low calorie and low starch equine supplement that provides the horse a daily fixed amount of important vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids. Life Data® Forage Balancer fortifies the natural forage diet by providing these essential nutrients that the diet is often lacking. The pelleted concentrated nutrient source increases the feed utilization of hay and pasture to provide a balanced diet.
*Hard keepers may require an additional calorie source in order to gain or maintain weight. Whole oats, beet pulp, or vegetable oil are good options. Available in 11 lb nitrogen flushed vacuum bags. Measuring cup not included in 11 lb bag.
For low activity, easy keepers, obese, or convalescent horses: Reduce starch and calorie intake by eliminating all other feeds except forage, salt, fresh water and Life Data® Forage Balancer.
For working horses and hard keepers: These horses usually need additional calories to maintain body condition, which can be provided by feeding whole oats, beet pulp, copra, and/or vegetable oil in addition to Life Data® Forage Balancer.
Horses with hoof issues may also receive Farrier’s Formula® to promote healthy hoof growth.
ADULT HORSES: Can be fed alone or mixed with oats. For each 1000 pounds (450 kg) of body weight, feed one half standard kitchen measuring cup (119 ml or 85 g) of product per day.
Benefits of Feeding Whole Oats
Whole oats are a source of non-fortified calories, reducing the risk of over-supplementation with minerals and other nutrients. They are highly digestible, palatable, often locally grown, and widely available. Whole oats are not as messy as sweet feeds, leaving cleaner feed buckets and minimal fly attraction. Feeding whole oats requires the horse to chew and salivate, helping maintain dental health, improve digestibility, and reduce the incidence of gastric ulcers.
