"It has been a long journey for my 14-year-old daughter and her horse Jet (a 14-year-old Appendix). My daughter Hannah spent all of 2020 training and preparing to compete at the Western Dressage World Championship Show. She and Jet trained 5 days a week. Of course, 2020 was very different from other years and shortly into the second half of the year things changed drastically for Hannah and Jet. He is generally very tender footed after being trimmed by the farrier, but this time he didn't get better after his trim. A few weeks went by of Hannah soaking and wrapping Jet's front feet, but he never got better. We thought maybe he had an abscess. We called the farrier and the vet out to take x-rays.

To our shock and horror Jet had less than 1/2cm between his coffin bone and sole on BOTH front feet. If it weren't for the fact that the pasture was too muddy to bury him, Jet would have been euthanized that day. Hannah spent the next several weeks going to the barn 7 days a week to soak and wrap Jet. At this point he was lying down so much in his stall that he had bed sores on both sides. Now Hannah was treating his feet and his bed sores. I forgot to mention this all happened three weeks before we were supposed to record for the Online World Show. So, on top of taking care of Jet, she had to learn to ride a new horse to compete with.

After about a month, Jet was doing well enough that he could stand for longer periods of time. It wasn't until closer to the end of the year that Jet was able to walk out of his stall. At first Hannah could only walk him around the arena. It took him a long time to walk because now his back legs were weak from lying down all the time. It has been a long journey and there were setbacks. It seemed like every time he began doing a little better an abscess would come along and impede progress. He had one particular abscess that you could stick an entire top of your finger in. Not once did Hannah ever give up on him. Not once did she ever complain about taking care of him. To this day we are still going to the barn 6 days a week to take care of him.

Today Jet had x-rays to see if he's made any progress. Everyone, including the vet and the farrier, were completely shocked when they saw the x-rays. Jet now has roughly an inch between his coffin bone and sole!! On the worse foot it's about 3/4 of an inch between the two. We have Farrier's Formula Double Strength to thank for this miracle. We have been giving him Farrier’s Formula since the day he was diagnosed as having Laminitis and Founders in October. Jet's first set of x-rays were taken in October. Eight months later and we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are praying that in three months Hannah will be able to ride Jet again.
